Driving Under the Influence

Kelsey Donoughe and Jenna Yahner, Author

Drivers that are between the ages of 16-20 are 17 times more likely to be killed in a car accident when they are driving under the influence and have a blood alcohol count of .8 in their system compared to when they haven’t had a drink at all. In 2013, 21.9% of high school students admitted to driving in a car and the driver of that car being under the influence of alcohol. Most alcohol related crashes involve young drivers and their passengers.
